At IFC, we stock an extensive range of cast commodity basket and y-strainers ranging in size from ¼” to 24” in size.  Many of these commodity strainers will require custom modifications. Most modifications are completed in-house at our 65,000 square foot plant to minimize the cost and lead-time for your clients.

Some examples of the modifications we perform are:

Changing the Straining Requirements – We do this to a basket or screen by adding mesh liner or by changing the perforation size. We stock over 100 different types of perforated plate and mesh options in stainless steel and other special alloys, therefore we can typically perform any Screen or Basket modification with a few days. We employ six fulltime employees in our Screen Department that look after these modifications.

Replacing the Bolted Flanged Cover – We do this on a Basket Strainer with a quick opening type to limit the downtime when accessing the basket for cleaning. With a variety of Quick Opening Cover arrangements to choose from, our sales team can recommend the most appropriate option for your application while also keeping your design criteria in mind.

Differential Pressure Taps – We add differential pressure taps for pressure drop monitoring or vent connections for air elimination and pressure relief. We can customize the size and type of connection (Flanged, NPT or SW) based on your requirements.

Drain Connections - Our y-strainers and basket strainers come standard with NPT plugged drain connections. In many cases, special sizes and different types of connections are required by our customers to accommodate installation requirements in the field. These changes are all completed, machined and welded in-house. If welding is completed on any of these modifications, the strainer is re-hydrotested at our facility prior to shipment.   

Coating - Some applications require special internal and/or external surface preparation and coating requirements. We have the capabilities needed to complete various types of blasting and coating for equipment, in accordance with our client’s technical specifications and quality control requirements.
